Mailing Fulfillment

The DPV system helps mailers obtain accurate delivery address information and facilitates identification of erroneous addresses contained in mailer address files.

For example, ZIP+4 codes typically represent a range of 100 or fewer house numbers on a given street. While 13300-13399 Maple St. may be assigned to ZIP+4 code 33556-5629, not all those house numbers represent actual delivery points.

DPV identifies those addresses that may be in a valid ZIP+4 range but are not valid addresses, thus allowing mail to be delivered in a delivery point sequence. If the primary street number of an address cannot be confirmed with DPV, then no ZIP+4 code can be assigned to the mail. Without a ZIP+4 code, the mail ceases to qualify for postal discounts.

NCOA Processing: Every year approximately forty million Americans move their place of residence and/or business, but their old addresses often remain in mailer’s databases. As a result, mailings continue to go to old addresses and not the new ones. It is estimated that at least 8% of all mail is undeliverable because of incorrect addresses. This means lost opportunities, lost sales, and wasted money.

Precision Mailing processes all mailing data using NCOA Link ™ which makes available current change of address information that can help reduce your undeliverable mail. Addressing errors are identified and corrected before mail enters the mail stream. Precision Mailing saves your marketing dollars that would have been spent on wasted materials and postage. In addition, valuable customer names that would have been lost have been updated to receive current and future mailings.

Duplicate Removal: As standard practice, Precision Mailing will remove your unwanted duplicates from your data to help reduce your mailing costs.

Address Stardarization: Standardization is the process of making an address uniform. The USPS defines a standardized address as “one that is fully spelled out, abbreviated by using the Postal Service standard abbreviations … or as shown in the current Postal Service ZIP+4 file.”

Before deliverablility can be determined, an address must first be standardized. Once standardized, an address will be complete, including any missing city, state, or ZIP Code information. It will use USPS-approved spelling, abbreviations, and formatting. Precision Mailing includes this service on every mailing.
